Our cardiovascular services

Our cardiologists are among the few nationwide certified to perform advanced, minimally invasive procedures. If a traditional, open-chest procedure is the best option for you, all of our surgeons also specialize in open chest and heart procedures.

Transmyocardial revascularization (TMR)

TMR is an innovative, clinically proven treatment for angina (chest pain). It's a safe and effective option that reduces severe angina and improves the quality of life for patients with advanced coronary artery disease.

Benefits of TMR include:

  • Significantly decreased angina
  • Pain relief for people who have coronary artery disease that cannot be treated with balloon angioplasty, coronary stenting or bypass surgery
  • Reduced need for medications that are often prescribed to manage angina pain
  • Improved quality of life and a return to a more active lifestyle

Mini-maze surgery

During this minimally invasive procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib), a surgeon isolates and ablates (burns) any nerve clusters that may be triggering irregular heartbeats.

The resulting scar tissue blocks erratic electrical impulses. Those that normally regulate heartbeats are transmitted through the new "maze." The heart rhythm is re-established and a healthy blood flow resumes.

Most patients leave the hospital two days after surgery and quickly return to an active, healthy lifestyle. They look forward to a future with a reduced risk of developing congestive heart failure or having a stroke.
