Dr. Teja is a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than 20 years of experience. Prior to coming to MountainStar Medical Group, Dr. Teja practiced at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA., where he established a neurosurgery program and a stroke center. Dr. Teja also has experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center of a neurosurgery specialty hospital.

Dr. Teja attended Medical School at the University of Virginia, which included an additional year working as a research fellow for the American Heart Association. He continued at the University of Rochester, completing his surgical Internship, post-graduate year two rotation in general surgery, a research fellowship with the Department of Neurological Surgery, and his neurosurgery residency.

Born in New Delhi, India, Dr. Teja is the son of two physicians. Being surrounded by medicine growing up, Dr. Teja was impressed by the impact physicians could have in people’s lives at critical times. Dr. Teja encourages his patients to be active participants in their health care decisions, while educating and guiding patients on what their options are.

In his free time, you might catch Dr. Teja fly fishing, mountain biking or traveling.
