Derrick A. Walker, D.O., FACS is a board certified general surgeon by the American Board of Surgery as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After he received his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2000, he completed his General Surgery residency at United States Air Force Medical Center, Keesler Air Force Base, MS in 2005.
Dr. Walker proudly served in the United States Air Force finishing his service in 2009 and received the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Director of Trauma, Kirkuk Region Air Base for five months, and also received Air Combat Command’s Surgeon of the Year and Field Grade Officer of the Year for the 366th Medical Operations Squadron, Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
After finishing his USAF service, Dr. Walker worked in Pullman, WA at Palouse Surgeons with a former AF colleague. For 9 years, he enjoyed the great people and beautiful scenery of the Palouse, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to return to Utah to be closer to family.
Dr. Walker is excited to provide high quality, evidence based, outcome driven, patient focused care that is readily available in the Brigham City community. He brings cutting edge surgical technology for general surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques.
Being a proud graduate of Box Elder High School, Dr. Walker is excited for the opportunity to return to his hometown. When he isn’t in surgery, Dr. Walker enjoys all outdoor activities, as well as spending time with his family.
